Each year since 1984 the adult entertainment world has been escaping from the steamy Hollywood, Ca. film sets and travelling to Las Vegas, to be honored on a very special night for the work that they do. The Las Vegas Adult Show was created to award the actors, actresses, and the folks behind the cameras in the adult film industry. Their goal is to celebrate the industry’s vow of erotic creativity and free spirit. The Las Vegas Adult Show is supported and sponsored by Adult Video News which was started in Chatsworth, California.
The 2008 AVN awards show was a milestone for the awards show, since they were marking their 25th year of the awards. The insanely popular Vivid Entertainment Group received the most awards in 2008, where they were honored with numerous awards in a range of different categories including Best Film and Best Director.
You might have guessed that the only people you would notice at this celebration are busty blondes and toned guys, you would have thought wrong. It is very common to find porn actresses socializing with some very famous Hollywood mainstream personalities at the Vegas Adult Awards ceremony. Some unlikely individuals who have been spotted or even handed out awards in past events include Dustin Diamond, Christina Aguilera, Criss Angel, Carrot Top, Sean Penn, Eddie Van Halen and Dave Navarro among others. Even rappers are involved in the adult movie industry these days; rumor has it that Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent have been funding adult movies for a few years now.
The 2009 Adult Show Vegas will feature over 100 categories ranging from best sex scene to best supporting actress and all other categories pertaining to adult films imaginable. The awards presented to the winners are called “Woody’s” and the recipients of a Woody are determined by industry peers and other professionals and critics of the adult film industry. Nominees for the AVN Vegas are required to have movies available for purchase in at least 100 video stores, and the film should have been released before the 30th of September of the prior year. The 2009 AVN Vegas will be held on the 10th of January in the Mandalay Bay Hotel Casino in Las Vegas.
